Wh-words: Pronomes interrogativos em inglês
Setembro 11, 2009 — lillizenOs pronomes interrogativos, ou interrogative pronouns, também podem ser chamados de wh-words, ou, palavras-wh, pois a maioria deles inicia com as letras ‘wh’, exceto how (como).
São pronomes que servem para fazer perguntas. Quando se inicia uma pergunta com um pronome interrogativo, geralmente, a resposta será direta, não iniciando com ’sim’, nem com ‘não’.
Qual é seu nome? João. —->
What is your name? John.
Onde você mora? Em Porto Alegre. —->
Where do you live? In Porto Alegre.
Esse tipo de pergunta (que inicia com uma wh-word) chama-se pergunta aberta. Em inglês, wh-question. Perguntas fechadas (sem a wh-word) são conhecidas por yes/no questions em inglês
