A fórmula para construção do Second Conditional é a seguinte:

IF + PAST SIMPLE, (SUBJECT) WOULD + VERB

Exemplos:

1. If I could play video games, I would play video games every day. That’s probably why my father doesn’t allow me to play.

2. If we had a car, we could travel more often.

3. If I saw John, I would tell him about the promotion.

4. If I were you, I wouldn’t do that.

Atenção para o uso do Verbo To Be no Second Conditional. Use were para todas as pessoas, inclusive para I, he, she, it, pois é a forma considerada gramaticalmente correta, embora você poderá escutar falantes nativos usando “if I was” coloquialmente.

Sendo assim, teremos:

If I were

If you were

If he were

If she were

If it were

If we were

If you were

If they were
Relembre a conjugação do Verbo To Be no Passado Simples:

I was

you were

he was

she was

it was

we were

you were

they were.

Ah, a propósito, note a pronúncia de “were” e de “where”:

were = (wûr)

where = (hwâr, wâr)
